We spent Columbus Day weekend at the Topsfield Fair in Topsfield Massachusetts. We left at 4:30 AM on Saturday and drove for two and a half hours!
Saturday was the 4-H show. Abby and Hannah both showed very well. For Hannah, who isn't old enough to go to the Big E yet, this show was her biggest so far. She placed fourth in fitting, sixth in showmanship, and sixth in judging!
Abby won both her fitting and showmanship classes. She then went on to win Overall Fitting and Overall Showman! She received two beautiful trophies! She came close to winning Overall Exhibitor, but she placed fifth in the Judging Competition. Abby and Hannah together won the Herdsmanship competition!
During the Open ADGA show on Sunday all of our goats placed very well. Heaven's Hollow Lucille won Grand Champion AOP (All Other Purebreds) and Best of Breed AOP. Abby's doe, Owl-Ridge Nite Lite was Reserve AOP. All of our doelings were in a class together and placed first through fourth! Hannah's doe did not place very well and after discussing with the judge his findings, Ya-el is now the resident pack goat on our farm. Hannah's new doe placed sixth in her class, but Hannah had fun showing a goat with an udder for a change!
We always have a lot of fun at this fair as we really don't know anyone there. We get to meet all kinds of new people and talk about our kids (both four and two legged!).
