Bluff Point

Yesterday we took a 4-H field trip to Bluff Point in Groton. Mrs. 'Ski had arranged for a biologist to meet us there.

It was blustery and chilly, but the sun was bright and the sky was clear. (as opposed to today where we are preparing for a Nor'easter!) The four mile (give or take) hike was fun but I must admit I am a bit out of shape! (Stop your snickering!)

We learned about seaweeds and marsh grasses. We learned about marsh ecosystems and how they only survive when things are in a perfect balance. Not too many deer, not too much pollution, not too much sediment, not too much water, etc.

It was a great afternoon and I am hoping we can schedule another hike in the spring!
