Learn By Doing Day 2016

Learn By Doing Day was so much fun! We had surprise attendees come all the way from Madison, CT and some of our animals were not cooperating with our planned schedule. So we did what 4-H teaches us to do: get flexible and go with the flow!
The weather was cooperative and we had a great day of learning how to show chickens, rabbits, dogs, and sheep, as well as a short workshop on 4-H record books. A huge THANK YOU to Mrs. Fields, Mrs. Atkins, Mrs. Button, and Mrs. Bennett! We couldn't have done it without you!

4-H Learn By Doing Day 2012

Saturday was our 3rd Annual Learn By Doing Day. Every year about this time our 4-H club organizes a day where youth can learn through hands-on activities. Our first year we only covered goat showmanship. Last year we tackled goat showmanship and fitting, and chicken showmanship and fitting. This year we were really ambitious and offered goat, chicken, dog, and sheep showmanship, along with fitting for goats and chickens, 4-H record book help, and an animal health session with our local veterinarian.

Seventeen youth (not counting Smith kids) participated with 8 adults also getting in on the experience! The weather cooperated to make the day a great success! I was unable to get photos of the afternoon sessions, as I was helping out with the goat fitting activity.
